Composition by Corporate Committee: Recipe for Clichı

By Ronald H. Sadoff

Musical, corporate, and cultural forces guide the production of every Internet audio-visual logo. The process makes demands that confound and restrict the composer who works under a corporate aegis. An examination of this process suggests that music and image have come to duplicate each other in commercial, mainstream media, and as a result, music has become a vessel for rhetoric, convention, and clichı.
