For lovers of baseball, nothing is better than to have an opportunity to witness a rare triple play unfold right in front of your eyes. For jazz guitar lovers, they would much prefer to hear a rare triple play as a result of a swinging tune than to see one as a result of a swinging bat. Great Guitars Live provides just that—a well-recorded double CD of nearly twenty tunes featuring the trio of Charlie Byrd, Barney Kessel, and Herb Ellis. Both sets are captured live at two separate venues, the first at the Paul Masson Mountain Winery in Saratoga, California, in July 1980 and the second at Charlie's Georgetown in Washington, D.C., in August 1982.
