Dear David:

I am writing in response to Claudia Gorbman's essay, "Aesthetics and Rhetoric," which was published in the special issue of American Music devoted to film music (22, no. 1; Spring 2004).
     I am extremely flattered that Professor Gorbman would take such an interest in a conference paper that I had given more than eight years ago and have long since forgotten.
