From
The Editor
By Ellie M. Hisama
With this issue, the journal’s editorial base moves to New York
City. It is a pleasure to begin my editorship of American Music, whose
pages have been an invaluable resource for my own research since my days
as a graduate student. The Society for American Music is indebted to David
Nicholls for his excellent work as editor, and I am grateful to David
for his advice and guidance during American Music’s journey across
the Atlantic. The articles in volume 24 owe their existence to David,
who helped to shepherd them into publication. I would like to thank Craig
B. Parker for serving as recording review editor and discographer, and
Ronald Pen and Charles Hiroshi Garrett, who will be continuing their terms
as book review editor and multimedia review editor, respectively. I welcome
Daniel Goldmark as the incoming recording review editor, and five new
Editorial Advisory Board members: Amy Beal, Tammy Kernodle, Guthrie P.
Ramsey Jr., Gayle Sherwood Magee, and Jeffrey Taylor. I am delighted to
be working with the journal’s new assistant editor, Evan Rapport,
who served as assistant editor of Ethnomusicology, and Benjamin Piekut,
who will be joining us as an assistant editor with the next issue.
