Satchmo and Me

By Lil Hardin Armstrong

Introduction

In 1956 Lil Hardin Armstrong tape-recorded an oral history about her early life in Chicago and her courtship and marriage to Louis Armstrong. It remains unclear who initiated the recording project or where it was taped. But the reminiscences made their way onto an LP issued by the Riverside jazz label (run by Bill Grauer and Orrin Keepnews) and entitled Satchmo and Me (Riverside 12¨120).
